Hi all. If you have reviewed my previous posts you know I am just beginning the process of homeschooling. Please do me a favor when you visit this post and leave me suggestions in the comments section!!! I would love any advice anyone has for me!!

My big suggestion would be don't be afraid to change what you're doing. If it's not working, then go back in and try something different.
ReplyDeleteOh, and read, then read some more, for ideas. There's a bunch of great homeschooling blogs out there to get ideas from, take what you want, and then remember they're only showing what is working, not the real life.
Thanks Ticia! I've been looking for every blog I could find and community I could join! Great suggestion! :)
DeleteHi Jennifer! I would keep lesson time really short and quick. I made a curriculum for my daughters and I have an in-home Preschool. There are 2 levels and we are going to add a 3rd soon. My daughter is 5 and she is already at a 1st grade level in reading and math, plus she knows a lot of history and geography from the program. I think your son would really like it. ReplyDeleteJanine,
DeleteThank you for the link! I will check it out. :)
I gave a half hour webinar on the Homeschool Channel on how I set up a routine for young children when homeschooling them. Here it is: http://susanevans.org/blog/a-routine-for-young-children/
ReplyDeleteThank you so much! I will check it out. :)
DeleteAt this stage you just have to keep searching and trying new things:) Until you find what fits well with your family. I have a lot of ideas for littles on my blog and I will also give you a couple of my other favorite links to check out! Best of luck! Hope everything works out for you!

Have you been leaning towards any particular curriculum?
ReplyDeleteA friend of min suggested lapbooks for starting homeschool mid-year. I'm going to try it along with other books. It looks like it would be good for a younger child since they get to put the book together.

My son is in 2nd grade, but what I'm using for reading and math can be used for kindergarten also.
